ATMA Tuensang inaugurates farm school

Tuensang, August 28 (MExN): ATMA Tuensang, Noklak Block inaugurated Integrated Farm School at Chingmei village on August 16.

A press release received here stated that the programme was chaired by BTM Thongko. During the inaugural programme, Recha Imchen Horticulture Inspector & BTT convenor highlighted the concept of farm school and pointed out that the set up of farm school would provide opportunity for dissemination of farmer to farmer technology and implementation of new and innovative technology where farmers can learn on better practices of farming. He motivated the farmers by saying that adoption of proper cultivation techniques and post harvest management will serve as a great potential. So establishment of farm school will also prove as an advantage for farmers in acquiring innovative technologies and better implements,thereby ensuring them for high quality commercial cultivation of various crops, he said. Meanwhile, Wongto Simon was appointed as the farm school teacher. Altogether, 27 farmers attended the training programme.

In the technical session, trainings and demonstrations were conducted on various topics such as Packages and Practices of cabbage and soyabean; life cycle of Eri Silkworm; disease management of Eri Silkworm; disease and pest management in paddy and value addition of mushroom cultivation. The resource persons were BTT Convenor Recha, Tiatemsu ATM, Athing ATM and Shanchothung ATM.  

Meanwhile, mobilization of farmers group was also conducted with 5 Self Help Groups and 2 Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from different villages under the block. The training programme concluded with the distribution of farm inputs to all the participants.
