
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 23 (MExN): Former MLA, Atomi K Zhimomi, today made a fervent appeal to all Nagas to unitedly work hand in hand in every field so that the people surged ahead keeping abreast with the other part of the country. Atomi, who was the guest of honour in the final program of the first ever volleyball tournament under the patronage of Peren District Volleyball Association at Jalukie High School Ground, appealed for a concerted efforts for changes in the society and pointed out that one tribe alone would not be able to changes.
On the occasion, Atomi particularly called upon the Zeliangrong people to endeavour for building closer bond amongst the other Naga tribes for peace and unity. He had advised every Nagas to encourage one another for the betterment of the Naga society. He prayed for ‘peace and harmony to prevail through out the valley.’ On the political front, Atomi maintained that DAN Government had carried out enough developmental activities in the state. While pointing to the enormity of works accomplished during the past more than four years under the leadership of the former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Atomi said people are the witnesses, which cannot be denied by all. In this context, he appealed the people to give their mandate for a similar developmental process. He also said the Government had tried its best in the field of sports as well to provide avenues for the youths to excel in their chosen field of profession and be self reliant.
Meanwhile, the New Jalukie Brothers’ Club has won the first ever Peren District Volleyball Association Tournament in both the men’s and women’s event. In the men’s section New Jalukie Brothers’ Club defeated Old Beisumpui, while in the women’s section the New Jalukie Brothers’ Club defeated Tening Town.
