Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): Several organizations today expressed condemnation at the ‘attempt to murder’ L. Doulo, proprietor of Kuda Cold Storage located at Model Village, 5th Mile allegedly by NSCN (K) cadres on September 18 in Dimapur.
CRPO: The Chizami Range Public Organization (CRPO) in a statement condemned the “attempted murder” on one of its senior and respected members and appealed to the authority concerned to take stringent and prompt action against the perpetrators at the earliest.
MVC: Model Village Council, 5th Mile, Dimapur stated L Doulo is a peace loving grandfather and a respected senior citizen of the village. The village council urged the authority concerned to immediately book the perpetrators and award befitting punishment. In a statement issued by its chairman, MC Sekhose, the council further warned that “such criminal acts within the village jurisdiction will be dealt with dire consequences in future.”
NCD: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) asserted “such cowardly act has been looming threat to the Naga society and we should not allow these goons to terrorize us.” It urged the law enforcing agencies to apprehend the perpetrators at the earliest and award befitting punishment.
PCCI: The Phek Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCI) asserted life attempt, threat, extortion and murder etc. upon business community in the state should be stopped. “It is time we start searching for better answers and understand why and how good it will be if you (so called unidentified armed miscreants) do for goodness as much as you do for badness,” PCCI stated in a statement from president, Mulepra Tsutso and general secretary, Chetsezo Akami. It further reiterated commitment to peace, safety and security upon business community and Nagas.
TVC: The Thetsümi Village Council (TVC) accusing NSCN (K) members for the attack questioned the NPGs “whether they are sincerely committed to work for the Naga cause or work for their own self-interest by involving in such anti-social activities.” Maintaining that the “cowardly act” is a direct insult to every Naga, the council in a statement from its chairman, Vetsope Venuh appealed to all the right thinking citizens to stand united against such act as it could happen to any innocent peace loving citizen. The council also urged the State Government to come out with a policy to protect and safeguard the unarmed civilians and also demanded the law enforcing agencies to book the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment.
TSU: The Thetsumi Students’ Union (TSU) noted that L Doulo is an elderly entrepreneur who has been working extremely hard to run his business after taking a huge loan in 2001. “The repayment is still underway and in such an event, demand like this from a group under the guise of ‘national work’ has damaged the good image of NSCN (K),” TSU added in a statement. The attempt to murder over a demand of Rs.50,000/- by the NSCN (K), it stated, has “not only demoralised the Naga people to support such a faction but demeans the group.”
Pointing out that the senior entrepreneur has been struggling to provide huge employment and job opportunities to the local youths, TSU said the “underground workers” should be encouraging and supporting such people who are contributing to society instead of trying to stifle their enterprises by making huge demands. “It is very important for our national workers to realise that entrepreneurs are building our nation by investing in the economic growth of our nation. Their work is crucial for the growth of our nation,” it asserted.
The TSU appealed to all the right thinking citizens to condemn the act and put a stop to the practice of harassing diligent members of the society in the name of national work. It also appealed to the law enforcing agencies to book the perpetrators and award befitting punishment. Meanwhile, the students’ body urged the NSCN (K) government to punish the erring cadres so that good will and allegiance prevail.
TYOD: The Thetsumi Youth Organisation Dimapur (TYOD) in a separate statement requested the law enforcers to leave no stones unturned during the course of investigation and nab the culprits at the earliest and book them. The organization also requested the higher ups at NSCN (K) to “come out with the truth and the identity of the culprits be revealed.”
TWD: The Thetsumi Welfare, Dimapur (TWD) meanwhile questioned the NSCN (K) authorities on “what justification our member’s life was attempted without any warning or appropriate reasons, when we as Nagas are also contributing voluntarily at our own various capacities to all Naga National groups.” At a juncture when Nagas are struggling to start various businesses and entrepreneurship, which is very few in number, the incident was very discouraging sign to the younger Naga, it added. A statement from TWD further requested the right thinking Naga citizens to “stand united against such elements which are detrimental to our society.” They demanded the law enforcing agencies to identify the assailants at the earliest and book them.
