DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) has revealed that most automobile part shops in Kohima town were selling spare motor parts above the maximum retail price (MRP) by removing the original price tag.
This came to light after the NVCO team led by its president Kezhokhoto Savi visited motor part shops in Kohima town on Monday, December 19, 2017.
Taking serious note of such exploitation of customers, the NVCO said automobile part shops cannot sell goods to customers above the MRP, but only at the suggested MRP or below the printed price tag.
While asking the business community especially automobile part dealers to honour the rights of consumer and not to charge above the MRP, the NVCO has requested the district administration/Kohima Municipal Council to take necessary action to stop such exploitation.
It also said the mechanics and workshops were charging excessive fees for vehicle repairing.
