Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur (GBUD) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) on Friday stated that no colony under their jurisdiction should enforce their own version/order of lockdown restrictions.
The two-organizations stated that, if necessary, the colony authorities should work in consultation with the District Administration/DTF in managing the pandemic and not set their own rules putting the citizens in more difficult and apprehensive state of mind.
“Rather the colony leaders should give logistic support to the citizens in managing COVID-19 issues in collaboration with DTF and Medical Department,” they added.
As directed by the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, every colony should adhere to the order and avoid enforcing own rules, the organizations stated.
They also urged the public to be sincere in their behaviour and be more disciplined in following SOPs/guidelines for their own safety, adding that, “The virus does not move, it is the people who move.”
In another statement, the two organizations expressed appreciation for the District Administration, Police Department, District Task Force, doctors & nurses and medical fraternity for risking their own lives to protect the citizens. They also appreciated K Kikheto Sema, in-charge Dimapur COVID-19 management for the concern and initiative to increase COVID-19 care beds facilities.
They further appreciated private hospital managements for coming forward and giving cooperation in providing facilities in treating positive cases.
The organisations expressed gratitude to the Churches for their support for COVID-19 positive persons, and the Pastors for providing prayers, counselling and conducting prayer of burial at the cemetery.
They further acknowledged the law enforcing agencies, headed by Commissioner of Police Dimapur in keeping the law and order under control. The two organizations urged the police department to deal strictly with vehicles plying without any valid reasons, violating the lockdown rules.
Further, they assured full cooperation as and when their services are required.
