
KOHIMA, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Directorate of Industries & Commerce conducted a one-day workshop on the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) for department officers on January 29 at its conference hall.
Developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), the IILB is a GIS-enabled centralized platform that provides a comprehensive repository of industrial areas and clusters across India. The initiative aims to streamline industrial development, enhance transparency, and promote ease of doing business by showcasing investment opportunities nationwide.
Director of Industries & Commerce P. Tokugha Sema emphasized the importance of effective policy implementation for the success of the IILB. He described the platform as a crucial component in fostering industrial growth and urged officers to work towards its objectives. Sema also acknowledged the technical support provided by the GIS & Remote Sensing Centre.
Deputy Director Mhonbeni K. Nsarangbe noted the state's lack of proper land bank data for the portal and encouraged officers to actively participate in the initiative. General Manager of Chozoba Heinangwang presented an overview of the IILB and related activities, while GIS & Remote Sensing Centre Data Manager Sanen Jamir discussed GIS mapping. He highlighted the Directorate of Industries & Commerce as the first department to distribute GPS machines to district officials, expressing optimism about the results.
Surveyor Assistant Moatemsu conducted a demonstration on GPS machine operations for land surveys. The event concluded with the distribution of GPS machines to general managers of the District Industries Centres and a vote of thanks by Joint Director K. Hekavi Francis.
