Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Prodigals’ Home, Dimapur conducted an awareness programme on ‘Drug and Alcohol Abuse’ at Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on August 16.
A press release issued stated that the resource persons for the programme were Apong Jamir and T Meren Jamir, Coordinator and Counselor. The students were made aware of the prevailing drug and alcohol abuse within the society, especially amongst the student’s community and how addiction creates havoc within the family, society, self and how it ruins careers, family relationships and leads to fatal consequences.
“The participating students were encouraged to lead sober and productive lives by exercising healthy lifestyles and not to be swayed by societal and peer pressures, but rather aspire to become contributing members of the community,” it added. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and prayer by the school Chaplain, Jolly.
