AYO laments dept’s ‘inactivity & lack of concern’

Kohima, July 19 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) initiated a “field day work” at the landslide area in Kiruphema village on NH 29 (AH-1).

In a press statement, AYO through its President, Neinguvoto Krose and General Secretary Kekhrie Pfükha acknowledged that the enormous problems which the State and beyond is encountering for beyond two months now is noted with immense concern.

Meanwhile, it criticised the “inactivity and lack of concern” by the department and minister concerned “who even refused audience to the villagers.” The repeated appeals by the villagers to the concerned department landed only on deaf ears, it lamented.

“We are amazed that a matter of this magnanimity is ignored and turned a blind eye to... In addition to this, the road between Kiruphema to Tsiesema is in pathetic condition and the bridge is on the verge of collapse. In such an event, Kohima will be cut off completely,” AYO noted.

On the other hand, the youth organisation appreciated the “yeoman service” rendered by Kiruphema village “mitigating and assisting the travelers by way of walking the extra mile in providing traffic, reparation of drainages, road surface, traffic assistance etc on the diverted route of this extremely vital link to the State capital of Nagaland.” Not a single rupee is so far contributed by the Government of Nagaland till date towards the endless effort of the village volunteers, it stated.

Further, AYO appealed to the public to cooperate with the village traffic volunteers detailed to work both on the highway as well as the diverted route. “We also wish to register that there can never be any VIP considerations whatsoever in this landslide stretch. All travelers are advised to strictly adhere to traffic rules as directed by the volunteers,” the statement added.

Also, AYO urged for financial assistance from any concerned citizen towards the effort provided by Kiruphema Youth Organization.

In the event of any accident which occurs on the pathetic condition of the route, it warned, “the State Government and the concerned department shall be held accountable and responsible for any such unfortunate event.”
