Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU), Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur and the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Tamenglong District has launched a drive against tobacco products. The organizations have appealed to the public in and around Tamenglong district to fully cooperate with the unions in the drive against selling and supplying of the ‘gutkha’ and related products.
In joint meeting of the unions in Tamenglong on August 5, the union resolved to ban the sale and supply of ‘talab’ in and around Tamenglong district. “We warn all the pan shops, vendors to stop selling Gutkha (Talab) before 5th September 2011. If any shop found selling or vehicle carrying the bandh item will face imposition of fine up to Rs 10,000 at first and Rs 10,000 plus closure of shops/stop vehicle service in the subsequent caught,” a note from the AZSU informed today. All subordinate units are asked to keep strict vigil in their respective areas.
