DIMAPUR, MARCH 9 (NNN): The indefinite ban on movement of Manipur bus and Tata Winger van services imposed by All Nagaland Private Bus Union and Winger Operators (ANPBU&WO) began today here. The agitation of ANPBU&WO has been triggered by the killing of a Tata Winger van driver in Manipur after his abduction by two unidentified men on February 22.

Md Muna Ali used to drive a Tata Winger van between Dimapur and Imphal. On February 22 at 11 am, two men hired his van from North AOC, Imphal on the pretext of fetching a patient from Kangpokpi, some 40 kms north of Imphal. The driver from Assam was found murdered near a village in Sadar Hills, Senapati district of Manipur on March 7. He was one of the members of ANPBU &WO. Md Muna Ali alias Suto, 22, S/o Md Matalim alias Akbar Ali hailed from Sukhajan village under Bokajan police station of Karbi Anglong district.

The ban has been initiated by ANPBU&WO demanding from the Manipur Government to compensate the family of the deceased and for a prompt investigation into the incident.
