The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) announced the Nagaland International Conference on Tourism, Transport & Logistics (NICTTL) 2025, scheduled for February 7-8 at the Niathu Resort in Chümoukedima. The conference, themed ‘Empowering Nagaland, India through Connectivity and Sustainable Development,’ aims to unlock the state's potential by bringing together stakeholders from India and Southeast Asia.
The event is being organized by BAN's Transport & Logistic Committee with support from the Ministry of MSME. According to the BAN, sustainable development, infrastructure enhancement and collaborative opportunities within Nagaland's tourism, transport and logistics sectors will be the focus areas.
Making the announcement at a press conference in Dimapur, on February 1, Zubeno Mozhui, Convenor of NICTTL, outlines the business collective’s purpose stating, “Our intention is to work for the entrepreneurs because when we build entrepreneurs, they are the backbone for the economy.”
Thangi Mannen, advisor to BAN's Tourism Committee, outlined the conference's objective to unveil Nagaland's tourism potential and maximise its resources. Mannen, a retired bureaucrat, who once served as Secretary of the state Tourism Department, said that Nagaland's unique strength lies in its culture, community and nature. According to her, Nagaland can offer a distinct experience for visitors seeking to learn about the state's biodiversity, culture and way of life.
The conference will also have a special workshop on leveraging digital tools by local entrepreneurs, who are in the tourism business. BAN member, Yanpvuo Kikon noted that while the Hornbill Festival generates substantial revenue, local entrepreneurs need to leverage digital platforms to capture a greater share. Inoto Kinnimi, Co-Convenor of NICTTL, discussed the conference's aim to address infrastructure challenges and market access through collaboration between government, private sectors and global experts.
Benthungo Kithan, Convener of BAN's MSME Committee, explained that the conference would feature speakers from SIDBI, SBI, NSIC, and GeM portal, focusing on funding opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Akum Jamir, Convener of BAN's Credit Committee, invited attendees to explore business opportunities, particularly encouraging young entrepreneurs and those in the tourism sector. He highlighted Nagaland's pleasant climate as a compelling alternative to traditional tourist destinations, urging visitors to experience its unique natural beauty. Jamir also addressed the need for improved digital resources for tourists, suggesting opportunities for developing pre-booking apps for homestays, taxis, and self-driven bikes, as well as services for adventure camping.
The BAN’s Credit Committee acts as a liaison with banks, facilitating access to funding for promising business plans and innovative ideas. Jamir reassured entrepreneurs that BAN stands against extortion and will support its members facing such threats. He called upon young people to capitalise on the numerous opportunities available, urging them to attend the conference and connect with potential investors and government agencies.
