Bandh in Wokha & Bhandari towns on Jan 31 and Feb 1

Bandh to be imposed from 6:00am Jan 31 to 6:00pm Feb 1

  DIMAPUR, JANUARY 23 (MExN): An emergency consultative meeting of the Lotha Hoho, Lotha frontal organisations, the Joint Action Committee, colony/ward councils and intending candidates today resolved to impose a bandh in Wokha and Bhandari towns from 6:00am of January 31 to 6:00pm of February 1.   A press release from the Lotha Hoho stated that the meeting resolved not to participate in the upcoming ULB polls scheduled on February 1. It added that “in case of any proxy and voting done through Postal ballot/EDC, the Lotha Public shall not recognize his or her candidature and will be declared null and void.”   It asked colony leaders and respective indenting candidate(s) to “monitor and take control of their own respective ward/colonies not to allow any person to enter the polling station.”   The Lotha Hoho further directed all colony youth leaders to send a minimum of 20 volunteers each to the Lotha Hoho Joint Action Committee (LHJAC), with the list of the volunteers to be submitted latest by January 27.   Villages in and around Wokha Town have also been requested to send youth volunteers on February 1. This includes 50 each from Wokha Village and Longsa Village; 20 each from Humtso Village, Elumyo Village, Longsachung Village, Niroyo Village and Pongitong Village   It informed that there would also be a “car rally against the ULB election” on January 28, right after the public rally scheduled to be held at Local Ground, Wokha Town.
