Aizawl, January 13 (MExN): Beena Vaheed, Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, called on Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Chief Secretary KR Meena in AIzwal on January 12.
During the meeting with the CM, Vaheed discussed enhancing Bank of Baroda's role as a key partner in Mizoram's development through strengthened developmental financing and inclusive growth initiatives.
The Chief Secretary, Meena, reviewed the expansion of the bank's branches in key centres to improve banking access. He appreciated the bank's efforts and assured full cooperation for the initiative.
Bank of Baroda's Credit Deposit (CD) ratio in Mizoram currently stands at 87 per cent, underscoring its significant contribution to credit deployment and economic activity in the state.
Vaheed also briefed the Chief Secretary on the progress under the "Your Money Your Right" campaign, launched by the Department of Financial Services. This central government initiative aims to refund unclaimed deposits transferred to the RBI's Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF) to rightful claimants. In this regard, she handed over details of DEAF accounts pertaining to state government departments and institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Vaheed said, “This visit reflects the Bank’s strategic focus on advancing credit flow, deepening financial inclusion, accelerating branch expansion, and fostering sustainable socio-economic growth in Mizoram.”
She added that the bank aims to empower local communities through enhanced access to digital banking and tailored credit solutions to drive entrepreneurship, employment, and inclusive prosperity.
The meeting was also attended by Prabhat Sharma, Chief Operating Officer; SP Nayak, Zonal Head, North Eastern States Zone; and Sanjay Pratap, Regional Head, Guwahati Region, of Bank of Baroda.
