
Kohima, August 29 (MExN): The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) State Task Force meet under the chairperson of Pankaj Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland was held at the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland on August 29.
A press note received here stated that the Ambassador for the Girl Child-an initiative of the Government of Nagaland where education and participation of the Girl Child is the main goal was introduced by Daisy Mezhur, Mission Director, State Resource Centre for Women with the motto “Let’s support a future that’s ready to take off.”
Tauhong Phom, CDPO & Nodal Officer for BBBP gave an overview of the activities of the District & Block Task Force of the FY 2016-17. He informed that under the banner of BBBP on International Day of the Girl Child celebration in Longleng, eleven new born babies were given cash awards; nine girls from Government Schools were felicitated for meritorious academic excellence. The plantation drive ‘one tree for one student’ was also highlighted. He also informed that the Adolescent Girls Club has been launched in three schools in Longleng.
Juliana Medom, Assistant State Coordinator highlighted the State Level activities till date. She informed that because of convergence with Pooorna Shakti Kendra and Nagaland Adolescent Girls Club the State Level Activities has been continuing despite non release of funds. She also gave a brief presentation of the implementation of District Level BBBP Activities and Fund utilised. The meeting ended with the Chief Secretary suggesting for one more State Task Force meet before the financial year.
