Bhandari inter-dept sports meet begins

BHANDARI, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The 2nd edition of the Bhandari subdivision inter-departmental sports meet with the motto ‘together we serve’ 2020 in support of Beti Bachai Beti Padhao (BBBP) awareness campaign in collaboration with DLCW-MSK was kicked off at the local ground Bhandari on February 27.

Declaring the tournament open with a short inaugural speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari, Tiameren Chang NCS said that the sporting time is a good opportunity for the government servants to know each other and work better together for the people through rededication and good relations with one another. He said that parents should not differentiate their children between boys and girls but give them equal opportunities in life.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr Riku Khutso EAC and convenor organising committee of the tournament said that the purpose of having the sports meet was to support the cause of women in their fight against discrimination through the ages and in empowering and strengthening them to live equal and quality life.

Departments are divided into eight teams who will be vying for championships in football, volleyball, badminton, tug of war and penalty shootout. The programme was chaired by Er K Hukato Shohe, SDO, PHED.
