Bhandari subdivision reports death of pigs

Imposes total ban on import and slaughtering of pigs
 

Bhandari, July 9 (MExN): Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari, Tiameren Chang, through an order on July 9 has issued directive for total ban on import of pigs from outside the State and slaughtering of pigs for meat consumption, in view of the outbreak of ‘African Swine Fever’ epidemic and reported deaths of pigs under Bhandari subdivision.


Reiterating to its earlier order and in reference to the directive of the Principal Secretary, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, the order stated that import of pigs from outside the state and transportation of the same for the purpose of either slaughtering or rearing has been totally banned with immediate effect under Bhandari Sub-division.


The order also notified to the public that slaughtering of pigs without verification by concerned department and clearance from the ADC would be viewed seriously.


The order further stated that transportation of pigs through Bhandari subdivision to other parts of the State is also strictly prohibited for health safety of the general public at large.


Through the same order, ADC had also sought for prompt response from Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Government of Nagaland, to deploy officials to verify the reports and take stock of the situation at the earliest, in order to prevent further spread of the disease.
