Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): The Dimapur branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) has constituted a new executive committee for the 2026-27 session and resolved to expand its presence in Nagaland by opening branches in Kohima and Chümoukedima.
The decisions were taken during the branch's general meeting, where members reviewed the activities of the outgoing committee and discussed the organisation's roadmap for the coming year.
The meeting considered the annual report for the 2025-26 session, dissolved the outgoing executive committee and unanimously approved the formation of a new executive committee, which subsequently received approval from the Regional Office on August 4.
General Secretary Arijit Sharma presented the annual report, highlighting the branch's service projects, cultural programmes, organisational activities and achievements during the previous year. Members appreciated the efforts of the outgoing committee in promoting the objectives of the organisation.
The newly constituted executive committee comprises Ganesh Sharma as president; Deepankar Sarkar and Sravani Kar as vice-presidents; Arijit Sharma as general secretary; CA Rajib Saha as treasurer; Subhash Burman as cultural secretary; Angshik Sharma Biswas as convenor of Bharat Ko Jano; and Sumi Das as convenor of the National Group Singing Competition.
The meeting also inducted 30 executive members who have been assigned various projects and community service activities for the 2026-27 session.
Members unanimously resolved to establish two new Bharat Vikas Parishad branches in Kohima and Chümoukedima during the next quarter to expand the organisation's outreach and promote service, cultural awareness and national integration in the state.
The newly elected office-bearers thanked members for their confidence and pledged to work towards strengthening the organisation, expanding grassroots activities and undertaking programmes for the welfare of society.
