Kohima, August 12 ((MExN): The District Integrated Strategy for HIV & AIDS (DISHA), Kohima, in collaboration with Oriental College, observed International Youth Day 2026 and launched the District Intensified IEC Campaign 2026 at the college on August 12 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
The programme began with a bike rally-cum-walkathon involving students of Oriental College and a group of bikers who joined the initiative to spread awareness on HIV prevention, stigma reduction and youth participation. The rally aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage young people and the wider community to engage in addressing social and health concerns.
The main programme brought together students, faculty members, officials and DISHA representatives to highlight the role and potential of young people in building a healthier and more inclusive society.
An awareness session on “Routes of HIV Transmission” was conducted by Pelevito Kiso, Cluster Prevention Officer, DISHA, Kohima. The session focused on HIV transmission and prevention, while encouraging students to rely on accurate information and helping dispel myths, misconceptions and stigma associated with HIV.
The programme was chaired by Meyievonuo, B.A. 5th Semester, Department of English, Oriental College. Mangam, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Teacher-in-Charge, Red Ribbon Club, delivered the welcome address, while Kikrunéi, B.A. 1st Semester, Department of English, presented a special number.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sentimongla Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DISHA, Kohima, informed a press release from DISHA, Kohima.
