Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The Bishu festival, the post harvest festival of the Dimasa Kachari was celebrated at Bamunpukhuri village, Dimapur on January 27.

The celebration was organized by the Bishu committee. It was graced by SK Khemprai, former President and advisor to KTCN, Lothak Girisa, GB of Darogajan as chief guest and guest of honour respectively, with the host of GBs from neighbouring Dimasa villages.

The chief guest in his speech highlighted the importance of festival reminding that “there is no date or time of starting/establishment of Bishu festival as it was started from the time of Brai Shivrai (Lord Shiva).” During this festival, youths, young boys and girls respects the elders and also forgot and forgive each other which young generation should not ignored by adopting Western Culture. He also appealed Dimasas Kacharis of Nagaland to continue celebrating Bishu every year.

The programme started with prayer and welcome address by Roben Dimasa (GB) and Ratip Daulaguphu, President Celebration Committee respectively, followed by cultural dance and festival songs presented by Dimasa Kachari Cultural Club with traditional feast, games and sports with cultural extravaganza in the evening.
