BJP Wokha asks to revoke district president’s appointment

Wokha, August 2 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Wokha unit has resolved that the BJP Nagaland State President should review and revoke the appointment order of the party’s Wokha unit president issued on July 25 and retain James Patton as the president at the earliest in order to safeguard the party constitution.

The resolution was made during the BJP Wokha unit emergency meeting held with its frontal and mandal office bearers of 37th, 39th and 40th mandals on August 2 at Tourist Lodge, Wokha Town.

The resolution appended by 52 officials and members of BJP Wokha unit and released to the media stated that the house unanimously resolved and re-affirmed the presidentship of James Patton, who was constitutionally elected on November 15, 2015 by the majority of the Mandals in the presence of the District Election Officer (DEO) as per the notification issued from the centre according to the Party Constitution.

The house also decided that the July 21 district executive meeting convened by “some vested interest party workers” of 38th Mandal, Wokha unit was without the knowledge of the Wokha district office bearers, frontals and the three Mandal office bearers of the 37th, 39th & 40th constituencies. Therefore, the house declared the meeting as null and void, it was informed.

The meeting also resolved that Vice President, BJP Nagaland State unit and in-charge of Wokha district should be immediately replaced as in-charge of Wokha unit for the greater interest of the party workers of Wokha district. The district in-charge, according to the resolution, “failed to adhere to the party constitution and acted blindly without proving the majority of the party workers in the District.” The meeting declared that the “favouritism played by the Wokha in-charge and paving ways for some vested interest party workers of 38th Mandal is highly condemned for the unconstitutional and infringement of the party constitutional rights.” Therefore, the BJP workers of Wokha unit endorsed the party State President to take disciplinary action for the uplift and progress of the party, it added.
