BJP Wokha dist observes 36th Foundation Day

Morung Express News Wokha | April 6   The BJP Wokha district, observed the 36th Foundation Day of the BJP here at the district headquarters on Wednesday, which was also attended by Nagaland State BJP vice president and in-charge, Wokha district, K James Vizo, and Er. Longshithung Kikon, State Executive Member.   The State BJP vice president in his address acknowledged the Central BJP leaders including AB Vajpayee, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Malhotra and others for guiding the party to the present status. On behalf of the BJP district unit, Vizo also paid tributes to the pioneers of the State BJP like late NC Zeliang, late Dr N. Rhesto and Pius Lotha.

  On the occasion, the BJP Wokha observed a minute silence in memory of the former State BJP presidents, late NC Zeliang and late Dr N.Rhesto.   Vizo also dwelled on how the BJP was founded way back on April 6, 1980. “Vajpayee, Advani, Joshi, Malhotra, Sikandar Bakht, Ram Jethmalani, and others formed the BJP. Vajpayee became the first president, Advani and Bakht the first general secretaries and Malhotra the first president of the Delhi BJP. Subsequently, Advani was party chief for three terms: it was under his leadership that the party really grew, especially after his Ram Rath Yatra in 1990”, he said.   He also informed that the party contested on its own in 1984 and won two seats in the Lok Sabha. It later formed three governments headed by Vajpayee. After nearly a decade in the opposition, Modi led the party to a stunning victory in the 2014 general elections.   Addressing party workers in the second session of the District Executive meeting, Vizo apprised the district BJP workers on the recently concluded State executive meeting held at Kohima earlier on March 29.   He informed that in the meeting the State BJP resolved to extend full support for early solution of the Indo-Naga political issue, which will be honourable and acceptable to all sections of the Naga people. On Governance, the Party affirmed its stand as a National party to support efficient and clean governance and to check corrupt practices prevailing in the state.   On the issue of illegal immigrants, Vizo said the Party resolved to support the measures adopted in identifying and streamlining of illegal immigrants in the State so as to ensure that bonafide citizens are not deprived and the demography of the State is not disturbed.   On the organization matters, all Mandal units of Wokha district have been directed to complete its executive committee and office bearer lists at mandal levels and local units on or before April 10 along with Mandal meeting report and photographs, which will be sent to the Central BJP as per the latter’s directive. On Office building construction committee and matters related to party affairs, the state vice president informed that the District president in consultation with the BJP MLAs and the district in-charge of the district concern would coordinate jointly.   The meeting was co-chaired by the District BJP president, James Patton, and general secretary, N Nchumbemo Jami, and attended by members from various mandal and district level workers.
