Beneficiaries avail medical services during the free medical camp held at Elumyo village in Wokha on August 4.

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Wokha Unit, on Tuesday organised a free medical camp and distributed medicines at Elumyo village to improve access to basic healthcare services, particularly for senior citizens.
The initiative was led by BJYM Wokha Unit president Shanchothung A Ezung.
Medical services were provided by Medical Officer Dr Yanbemo Murry and dentist Dr Chumthungo Humtsoe with support from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, and nurses from the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Elumyo. The free medicines distributed during the camp were sponsored by Dimapur Municipal Councillor Khekato Awomi.
According to the organisers, the outreach programme was aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of residents of the remote village, where limited medical facilities and poor road connectivity often make it difficult, especially for elderly people, to access timely treatment.
Doctors examined patients suffering from a range of ailments, with the most commonly reported cases including knee and joint pain, gastric disorders, hypertension and dental problems.
Many elderly patients attributed their joint-related ailments to years of physically demanding agricultural work, including carrying heavy loads and walking across hilly terrain to reach their farmlands.
Following medical examinations, patients were provided treatment and medicines based on their individual health conditions.
Village Goanburas and residents appreciated the BJYM Wokha Unit for organising the medical camp despite challenging road conditions during the monsoon season. They also acknowledged the contributions of the sponsoring individuals, doctors and healthcare workers for providing free consultations, treatment and medicines to the villagers.
