Book on ‘Recent Advances in Earth Science Research in North East India’ released

Lumami, May 10 (MExN): An edited volume of the book ‘Recent Advances in Earth Science Research in Northeast India’ by Professor BV Rao, Department of Geology, Nagaland University (NU), Kohima Campus, Meriema, was released on May 4.

The book was released by Professor Paradesi Lal, NU Vice Chancellor, in the presence of Professor Sangyu, Dean, NU School of Sciences, at NU Headquarters, Lumami.

According to a press release received on Monday, Northeast India is a geologically complex and fascinating region that is part of two plate tectonic boundaries, and has attracted the attention of earth scientists from various parts of the world.

The release stated that the book is a contribution from a wide range of disciplines, including Geology, Petrology, Geochemistry, Mineral and Energy Resources, Environmental Geology, Geomorphology and Hydrogeology, Structural geology, Morpho-tectonics and Geo-hazards. This volume contains 22 peer reviewed research papers (Chapters), mostly from researchers of the northeast region who have devoted most of their lives to understand the complex geology of the region.

The 348-page book was published with ISBN No: 978-93-89262-08-7 in 2021 with financial support from Nagaland University, DST and MoES by South-Eastern Book Agencies, Guwahati.

This special volume would be of great help to the earth scientists involved in the research of geology of northeast India, and also encourage young researchers to take up new challenges with modern concepts and applications, the release stated.
