15 days deadline given to arrest the perpetrators
Kohima, September 19 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), and Chumukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCCTA) today jointly condemned the act of the armed cadres allegedly from NSCN (K) who “attempted to kill” the proprietor of Kuda Cold Storage, L Doulo on September 18 in Dimapur.
The four business organisations in a statement appended by the respective president gave 15 days deadline to arrest the perpetrators, adding failing to do so will invite appropriate and befitting action plan. “The perpetrators of such act of violence and whose objective is to spread fear psychosis among the business communities and public in general should be arrested immediately and dealt with as per the law of the land,” it demanded.
It asserted that “NSCN-K has defiled the peaceful atmosphere that has been prevailing in Dimapur and the business community will not remain a mere spectator.” L Doulo, a veteran businessman for more than five decades has been an inspiration to many young entrepreneurs, the business bodies stated. “It was he who ventured into the cold storage industry since 2004 despite many challenges, hiccups and still struggles to keep it running. A humble and soft spoken grandfather it is unimaginable that such brutish attempt on his life should be made,” they added. “It is also beyond the realm of reason that yearly commercial tax notice be issued twice to the same enterprise by the same NPG.”
In a separate statement, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) also condemned the “attempt to murder” L. Doulo. “KCCI firmly reiterate its stand against taxation and laying of consequences upon the trading community where forceful and unethical means are used,” said the statement from KCCI information & publicity secretary. Meanwhile, it urged the law enforcing agencies to book the perpetrators and deliver justice and security to the traumatized victim in particular and the business community as a whole. KCCI added that such unlawful activities should be condemned by every right thinking citizen.
