Thipuzu leads medal tally

Thipuzu village today took the lead in the medal tally at the ongoing 50th golden jubilee meet of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) with 15 medals (8 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze) here at Phüsachodü village under Phek district.
Phüsachodü village was placed second with a total of 17 medals (4 gold, 5 silver, 8 bronze) while Rukizu stood third with 4 medals (2 gold, one silver, one bronze), Kikruma with 3 medals (2 gold, one bronze), Khulazu Basa with 2 medals (2 gold), Khulazu Bawe with 8 medals (1 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze), Thenyizu with 8 medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), Chesezu with 2 medals (1 gold, 1 silver), Chetheba 3 medals (3 silver), North Kikruma with 1 medal (1 silver), and Chikri Nasa yet to win any medal.

The athletic events took place on day-1, which included track events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4×200m for both men and women, board jump, shotput, discuss throw, javelin throw and triple jump.
The first gold medal of the CAGSA meet 2021 was clinched by Melevo Rose of Thipuzu (12.55 mts) in men’s shotput, with Venuzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu village in second position with 12.46mts.
In the women’s shot put event, Zuniekholu Khamo of Phüsachodü claimed the first position with 10.70 meters and Honi Medeo of Chetheba in second with 10.44 meters.
In the 100 meter men dash, Kudephuyi Ruho finished the track in 11.66 seconds to get the first gold medal for Phüsachodü village, followed by Khruseto Dawhuo of Thenyizu (11.82 seconds).
In the women’s category, Kuzhopolu Medeo finished in14.47 seconds at the 100 metre dash to win the gold medal for Rukizu village and Honi Medeo of Chetheba was in second place with a time of 14.85 seconds.
The meet will continue till February 9.
