Defending football champs Khulazu Basa enter QF

On the fifth day of the ongoing 50th anniversary meet of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) at Phüsachodü village under Phek district, three-time champions Khulazu Basa defeated Kikruma 1-0 in the men’s football event to enter the quarterfinal round.
Khulazu Basa got off to a flying start when Lutuzo scored the first goal in the 10th minute.
With the goal, the team maintained their lead and enjoyed the ball possession in the first half.
Kikruma tried to regain momentum in the second half but failed to convert their chances. Without any breakthrough for Kikruma, the match ended in favor of the Khulazu Basa team.
The win put Khulazu Basa on top of the Group A table with six points. Despite the defeat, Kikruma will also qualify for the next round.
Meanwhile, Thipuzu came from a goal down to overcome North Kikruma by 2-1 in a thrilling encounter.
Verhakho Tunyi scored a penalty in the 12th minute to turn the game in favor of North Kikruma during the first half.
However, the goal was cut short in the second half when Cuzota Chuzho and Sevozo Rhakho scored two successive goals to secure victory for Thipuzu.
The Thenyizu and Chesezu match ended in a stalemate.
In the quarterfinal match, Khulazu Basa will play Thipuzu while Thenyizu will play against Kikruma to decide the outcome of the top two teams in Group A.
In Group B matches, Rukizu team beat Chikri Nasa 3-0. Vekro Tetseo, Zhokho Thingo, Vetsuzo scored a goal each in the second half for Rikuzu team. The defeat for Chikri Nasa ended their run in the men’s football event.
A brace from Merito Nyekha helped Chetheba team win over K Bawe 2-0.
In the quarterfinal round, host village Phüsachodü will play against Chetheba and Rukizu to take on K Bawe in their respective matches.
In men’s volleyball, Chetheba won the first match of the day to progress to the semifinal round.
They outclassed Chikri Nasa 25-15, 25-6 in the encounter.
Phüsachodü team bested Rukizu 25-21, 25-15 to progress to the next round.
Chetheba will now play against host team Phüsachodü in the semifinal round for Group B.
For Group A, Khulazu Bawe defeated Kikruma 25-21, 25-13 and will now play against Thenyizu in the second semifinal match.
In women’s volleyball semifinal matches, Phüsachodü will play against North Kikruma and Chesezu will take on Chetheba.
In women’s basketball, Rukizu won against Chesezu but lost their second match against Chetheba which also ended their run in the event.
Up next, with the win, Chetheba will play the semifinal round against Phüsachodü team
Thenyizu won against Khulazu Basa 11-6 to progress to the next round. They will now play against Kikruma in the semis.
In men’s basketball semifinals, Chetheba will take on Thipuzu while Thenyizu will face Rukizu.
