Phusachodu, February 6 (MExN): Phusachodu, Rukizu, Thenyizu and Thipuzu won their respective quarterfinals match to enter the men's football semifinals round on the sixth day of the ongoing 50th anniversary meet 2021 of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) here at Phusachodu village under Phek district.
In men's football, three time champions K Basa suffered defeat at the hands of Thipuzu 2-1 in the encounter which ended their run in the tournament.
Thipuzu's striker Sevozo Rhakho dribbled past K Basa’s defensive line to find the back of the net in the 3rd minute.
K Basa team reacted immediately and found the equaliser through a spot kick by Zhoposa in the 23rd minute to end the first half 1-1.
In the second half, Rhakho stole the limelight again, easing past the defenders to score the winning goal for Thipuzu.
In another match, Nusezo Kezo's hat-trick sent Thenyizu team to the semifinals round.
The team outclassed Kikruma 4-0 with Kezo scoring in the 20th, 30th and 57th minute, and Huvoto Nakro adding the fourth goal to finish the game in favor of the Thenyizu team.
Host team Phusachodu continued their good run in football thrashing Chetheba 3-0.
With the win, host team will be one of the favorite contenders for the football trophy. They are yet to concede a goal playing three matches and scoring 13 goals.
Rukizu prevailed over K Bawe during a penalty shootout and entered the semifinal round. In a thrilling encounter, six goals were scored with both teams scoring three each. However, the match was decided by a tie breaker and ended in favor of Rukizu by 4-2.
Up next in the semifinals round, Rukizu will play against Phusachodu, while Thenyizu clash against Thipuzu to make it through to the final round of the football trophy.
In women's basketball semifinals matches, Kikruma defeated Thenyizu 16-15 to enter the finals.
Chetheba overcame defending champions Phusachodu by 26-17 points. With this win, Chetheba will play against Kikruma in the women's basketball final.
In men's basketball, Chetheba booked the final berth by defeating Thipuzu 50-26 points.
Chetheba will play against either Thenyizu or Rukizu in the final match.
In men's archery, Muzikho Tetseo (Thipuzu) secured the first position, while Ruyonu Theluo (Phusachodu) and Kukhruveto Khamo (Thipüzu) came second and third respectively.
In women's category, Lotsülü Sazo (Phusachodu) won the first position, followed by Tsülü Thira (Kikrüma) and Vekhosülü Thingo (Thipüzu) in second and third respectively.
In arm wrestling (men), Venuzo Dawhuo (Thinyizu) was placed first while Vezhopo Chuzho (Phusachodu) and Veniezo Cümu (Phusachodu) came second and third.
In arm wrestling (women), Kuvelulu Keyho (K Basa) overpowered Vesusalu Vero ( Phusachodu) to win the gold medal. The bronze medal was bagged by Shovelu Thelu-o (Phusachodu).
