Phusachodu, February 8 (MExN): Phusachodu and Thenyizu won their respective semi finals matches to enter the men’s football final round of the ongoing 50th Anniversary meet of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) here at Phüsachodü village under Phek district.
In the semi finals encounter, Phusachodu scraped passed Rukizu team via tie breaker 3-0 after the match ended in 1-1 draw.
The first semifinal witnessed two penalties with both teams scoring their chance during the match.
The lackluster finishing from Phusachodu end failed to live up to the expectations of the crowd. Rukizu dominated the match, and finding the back of the net in the first half ahead of Phusachodu.
However, the match was decided through penalty kick with both teams in stalemate. Luck did favour the host team as they went through 3-0 with Rukizu missing all their spot kicks.
In the second semifinal match, Thenyizu team thrashed Thipuzu team 6-0.
Huvoto Nakro netted two goals while Sekhozo Thisa, Nusezo Kezo, Khrükhoto Resu and Verhasü Resu contributed a goal each.
In women’s football, Phusachodu outclassed Kikruma 4-0.
Zuniekholu Khamo scored four goals to decorate herself as one of the finest strikers in the area meet.
Thenyizu team beat Khulazu Bawe with 2-0 score by Shodulü Swiho and Khrukhosalü Dawhuo.
Thenyizu and Phusachodu will clash for the football championship for both the men’s and women’s trophy.
Meanwhile, Chetheba defeated Kikruma 20-12 in the women’s basketball final to take the title of the Jubilee edition.
In men’s basketball, Thenyizu defeated Rukizu in the second semi-final match 42-41.
Men’s basketball championship will be played between Chetheba and Thenyizu on Tuesday.
Phusachodu women defeated Chetheba by direct sets to lift the women’s volleyball championship of the sports meet.
In the men’s volleyball semi-final match, Thenyizu defeated Khulazu Bawe 25-11 and 25-15. Up next, Thenyizu will take on Chetheba in the final match on Tuesday.
