Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): The Chakhro Angami Kuda Union (CAKU) acknowledged Public Action Committee (PAC) under the banner of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) for the “tremendous achievement in bringing down illegal taxation which the general public themselves are the witness.”
As per the decision taken on October 31, 2013 on “One Government one Tax,” the CAKU further reaffirmed to continue to stand by the resolution.
CAKU in a press release stated that “PAC is a conglomeration of all Naga tribal bodies including all mass based organization of Dimapur therefore, whatever movement PAC have initiated till today was in the interest of the general public and the public is fully aware of the so called taxes levied upon the public where he or she is directly or indirectly a victim to it.”
In this regard, the union assured all possible support to PAC and hoped that this movement will bring positive change in the society.
The Union meanwhile, expressed dismay over the misconception of working committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) thereby targeting PAC leaders and families.
“Intimidation and threat in the name of National movement will not solve the problem as every Naga family whether at present or past has contributed for the national cause in one way or other,” it maintained.
It further cautioned against any party or groups issuing threat, intimidation or for that matter if any untoward incident happen against any of the PAC members or their families, “the particular party or groups shall be held solely responsible.”
CAKU further apprised upon the State Government, particularly the custodians of law to ensure that all illegal activities happening particularly in the commercial hub of Nagaland, Dimapur to be more vigilant and act promptly against all anti social elements “without showing bias or favoritism.”
The Union prayed that “good sense will prevail among the Nagas so as not to jeopardize the peace accord which is expected soon.”
Meanwhile, The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) pledged to firmly hold on the resolution of “One Government One Tax” adopted on October 31, 2013 and reaffirmed to continue to stand by the said resolution.
ASTD President, L. Watt Jamir and Secretary K. Mar Lemtur in a press release also applauded the Public Action Committee (PAC) under the umbrella of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) for bringing down the illegal and unabated taxation in the State in general and the Dimapur Town area in particular as has been witnessed by the general public so far.
Meanwhile, the ASTD lamented that “any form of intimidation and threat in the guise of National movement to any of its PAC members or its family would never solve any tangible solution, as every Nagas had contributed its own sheer obligation in one way or the other for the National cause.”
It added that therefore, “in the event of any groups or party involved in such unwarranted intimidation or threat thereto, the same shall be held the sole responsible of that party and shall be viewed seriously.”
The Union further urged the Government machineries, particularly the custodian of laws to be more vigil in curbing the menace of “illegal activities so as to prevail smooth peace and tranquility in the State in general and the Dimapur Town in particular.”
