Call for shutdown a sign of surging people’s resentment to delaying solution: WC, NNPGs

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 12 (MExN):The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) termed the Nagaland bandh called by the Nagaland People’s Action Committee (NPAC) as “another surging wave of Naga people's resentment against GoI's (Government of India) inordinate delay in delivering negotiated political solution to the Naga people.”

A press release from the WC, NNPGs’ Media Cell said that the proposed statewide shutdown is a reminder from the “real stakeholders of the Indo-Naga solution,” irrespective of affiliation, to the GoI to fulfill its commitment to the Naga people. Besides, it said that the call is “a mighty slap on the state government for its positive words on air and treacherous actions on the ground.”

According to it, the negotiations between the GoI and Naga negotiators have successfully concluded and on this basis, the people wants an honorable and acceptable political solution. “WC, NNPGs believes all Nagas, both in villages and towns, in Nagaland state and beyond, have a responsibility to respond to the call of NPAC for a shutdown,” it maintained.

Further terming the proposed date of the shutdown as a day to reclaim the moral, spiritual, democratic, social, political and historical right “through collective conscience,” it said that it will be a firm democratic nudge to the GoI, “to allow voice of sanity prevail over imposters' whispers and heed to the demand for political solution and not elections.” “Anti-Naga solution elements may oppose the shutdown or remain unresponsive to the clarion call but Nagas must ignore those in political slumber or pretending to be asleep,” it said.
