Campus Ambassadors & Nodal Officers trained on ‘Special Drive’

Kohima, June 20 (MExN): Orientation training for Campus Ambassadors and Nodal Officers in connection with the ensuing ‘Special Drive’ was held on June 20 at DC’s conference hall, Kohima. Organized by the Election Department, the training had Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer, Kiusumong Tikhir and Assistant Election Office, Kohima, Toshimeren Aier as resource persons.

Addressing the training, Toshimeren urged the student ambassadors to be the main channel in creating awareness on Clean Election among the students’ community. He also encouraged them to sensitize the people on the issues of electoral practices at the grassroots level to enhance quality electoral participation. The electorate, particularly the civil societies of Nagaland, he said, needs deep introspection to fathom “how we fail to uphold the values we profess in our elections.”

“Your vote is your right, exercise it; don’t let anybody take away your right,” he told the gathering and appealed to the students’ community to promote the SVEEP campaign for clean electoral practices in the State.

ADC Kiusumong Tikhir also encouraged the student ambassadors and Nodal Officers to create healthy and clean enrollment of electors required to achieve Clean Election. He urged them to reaffirm their duties and responsibilities.

The Special Drive, which will be launched soon, focuses on enrolment of left out electors between the ages of 18 and 21 years, registration inquiry and clarification.

More than 20 schools and colleges from Kohima and Nodal Officers attended the training.
