DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): Candle light vigils were organized in colleges across Nagaland, as the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) concluded its Education Tour at Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma on March 5.
The education tour, conducted in three phases, had visited colleges across the state and highlighted several issues regarding college education in the state.
During the Education tour ANCSU sensitized the students on scholarship, and asked those students not entitled for scholarship to give up on applying. The union apprised the students that the union could detect 18 kinds of scholarship schemes, which ANCSU has demanded should come under a common nodal cell.
As per a press release from ANCSU President, Vimeyiekho Vitso and General Secretary, Imnameren N Jamir, the union regretted that despite the cabinet approval and notification issued for setting up of the cell in the month of October 2019, the students are yet to see the cell functional.
The ANCSU had demanded setting up of an academic council and deliberated matters pertaining to Nagaland University. It further reminded the state government on the ultimatum demanding for a joint meeting for settlement of land issues within 30 days. It had also urged that within 40 days, the 110 Assistant Professor posts should be sent to the Nagaland Public Service Commission, appointment of Principals to those government colleges without Principals and establishment of the nodal cell.
The third phase of touring encompassed Modern College Kohima, Baptist College Kohima, Oriental College Kohima, Kohima College Kohima, Government Polytechnic Kohima, NIELIT Kohima, Alder College, Sazolie College and Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
