Kohima, February 16 (MExN): The Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO), PHED Nagaland organised a five-day training programme on Trainer of Trainers (TOTs) from February 10 to 14, which was facilitated by PriMove Pune.
Training of trainers on Sujal & Swachh Goan culminated on February 14 with MK Mero, Principal Secretary, PHED gracing the culmination programme as the Special Guest at PHED Conference hall.
More than fifty Technical Officers, Consultants and Chemists from all districts of Nagaland under PHED attended the five day programme.
Earlier the culmination programme was chaired by Er. N Thsathrichem Sangtam, Director, WSSO, PHED.
Feedbacks from trainees and lead trainer Laxmikant S Shinde, WASH Specialist & Lead Trainer PriMove from the five day training programme was presented during the programme and distribution of certificates on successful completion of the five day training programme was handed over by the special guest.
The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation with technical support from UNICEF has taken an initiative to build capacities of selected Field Trainers (FTs) from each state for creation of Sujal (Safe and Secure Drinking Water Supply Management) and Swachh (Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus) Goans/ Villages.
Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) to all rural households in India with adequate quantity (minimum 55lpcd) of prescribed quality (BIS: 10500) drinking water on regular basis.
On Independence Day last year, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced more than Rs. 3.50 lakh Crores to be spent in the coming years under Jal Jeevan Mission to bring piped water to households in India.
The programme aims to implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through grey water management, water conservation and rain water harvesting.
The Jal Jeevan Mission will be based on community approach to water. According to the government, the mission will include Information, Education and Communication (IEC) as key components.
The mission is meant to create a people’s movement for water, making it everyone’s priority.
