All together 11 teams from Kiphire district are taking part in the first Captain N Kenguruse Football Tourney at Kiphire organised by the 7 Assam Rifles Kiphire which was launched on August 8. The tournament will conclude on August 13.
Recalling the brave sacrifice of late Captain N Kenguruse of Rajput Rifles for achieving MVC during the Kargil war, Lonogdiba, SDO(c) who was the chief guest said his sacrifice is known to every Indian and asked everyone present to contribute for the progress of the country.
Expressing gratitude to the 7 Assam Riffles for the organising football tournament, he urged the players to venture out to bring good name to the district and the nation.
“Nothing can substitute hard work and dedication, and if one possesses these qualities, one is sure to win in life,” he said.
Lt Col UK Pandey while welcoming the gathering gave a background of the tournament and also expressed gratitude to the teams for responding very well.
He informed that the winner of the tournament will walk away with a trophy, certificate, medal and Rs 25,000. The runners up will get Rs 15000 while the best player and best goalkeeper will get Rs 2500.
The inaugural program was attended by officers, GBs, students, well-wishers and the citizens.
