DIMAPUR, APRIL 9 (MExN): In the wee hours of April 6, policemen on patrol apprehended three persons on suspicion of vehicle-lifting in Dimapur. The three accused, identified as Hovito Achumi (24 years), Shikato Achumi (28 years) and Kukhato Yepthomi (27 years) were caught with an assortment of tools, which included an array of replicated car keys.
According to police, the trio were noticed by a police patrol team at the Half-Nagarjan junction, moving about suspiciously near a vehicle parked outside a business establishment. On frisking, the patrol team recovered a number of implements, generally used by vehicle-lifters from their possession.
The confiscated items included a knife, replicated car keys, wrenches, screw driver, pliers, adhesive tapes, and scissors; along with number plates, a ‘Mahindra Bolero’ owner’s manual and two music systems. All three were detained and a case has been registered under the relevant section of law, police added.
