Career counselling for unemployed youths, school dropouts held

Kohima, May 5 (MExN): A career counseling and seminar for unemployed youths and school dropouts was organized by the ‘Connecting Young Minds’ on May 3 at ENSF Hall, Tuensang.

In the first session (career counselling), resource person I. Changsang Soted, EAC Longleng, encouraged the students to choose their own career and not through the influence of peer groups or parents. He stated that one’s success depends on one’s 99% effort and rest through other aspects.  

Session second was a seminar for unemployed youth and school dropouts, where the resource person Kotiba Sangtam, Assistant Professor, SCERT, highlighted on the training avenues given by the department of underdeveloped areas for skill development. “Human life become stagnant when we stop being active and thus our society becomes inactive filled with many anti-social elements,” he maintained. Stating that Indian government is in the process of giving every individual an opportunity to skill in any field under Skill India, he said we should also grasp the opportunity.  

More than 300 students took part in the programme, which ended after review of both the career counseling and seminar. The programme was sponsored by the Department of Underdeveloped Areas under UDAP (2015-16).
