Catholics in Kohima observe day  of prayer and fast for world peace

Kohima, March 25 (MExN): Heeding to the request of Pope Francis, the Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Kohima observed March 25 as a day of prayer and fast for world peace, a press release from Bishop’s House said. 

Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese celebrated the Holy Eucharist in the Cathedral along with Priests, Religious and Lay Faithful on March 25 and carried out the Act of Consecration after the Holy Eucharist. Priests in different Parishes of the Diocese of Kohima celebrated the Holy Mass in their Respective places and did the same.

The Holy Father, Pope Francis has appealed for prayer, fasting and charity. In response to numerous requests, the Pope entrusted the world, especially the nations at war to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Pope carried out a solemn Act of Consecration of humanity and Russia and Ukraine in particular to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation at 6.30 pm (Roman time). 

“At his request, Priests, Religious and Faithful assembled in their churches and places of prayer for God’s Holy People and raise a heartfelt and choral plea to Mary our Mother” the release added.
