CEC meeting & general convention unauthorized: Shürhozelie-led NPF

Kohima, August 19 (MExN): The Central Headquarters of Dr. Shürhozelie-led NPF has termed the Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting on August 22 and general convention called by Neiphiu Rio on September 20 as unauthorized.

In a press release, Media & Press Bureau of the NPF Central HQ stated that a former Office Secretary of the NPF, who is presently with the Rio group, has been circulating on social media an “illegal” circular calling for a meeting of the CEC on August 22.

It pointed out that Article IV (3) (c) (iii) of the Constitution of the NPF party states that “Any member of the Party may requisition a meeting of the CEC by presenting to the President a memorandum signed by 1/3rd or more of the CEC and such a meeting be convened within 15 days from the date of receipt.”

Stating that the president of NPF Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu is neither in receipt of any requisition letter signed or attested by the required 1/3rd members of the CEC, nor has he authorized such a meeting, it stated the said circular should be treated as “illegal, mischievous and malafide circular with the sole intent of creating confusion in the minds of the CEC members.”

With regard to the general convention called by Rio, the release said that the suspended NPF member has not been delegated the power by the party President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu to convene a general convention of the party. It reminded the party rank and file as well as the public and well wishers that the general convention is “illegal, unauthorized, unconstitutional and ultra vires.”
