
Kohima, June 1 (DIPR): On Monday, Census 2011 was kick started in Nagaland. The exercise began with Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio filling up his detail in the census schedule 2011 at his official residence in Kohima. Director Census, Hekali Zhimomi, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Beiu Angami and officials from Census Government of India and state officials were present during the filling up of detail. Rio’s wife, son and two daughters also placed the actual figures and address to the census officials.
Speaking to the gathering comprising of enumerators and officials of the census department, Rio said that spelling of name is the most important while filling up and urged them to take utmost care. He said that the National Population Register (NPR) and census 2011 starting today is very important and called for an honest and accurate census. He further said that accurate census is very essential, so that government will not find difficulties during the perspective plans of various departments. He felt that time has come not to continue to manipulate the census of population adding that the Prime Minister of India has stated that corruption of people would be charged with the unique Identity Card. He further said, ‘if you cheat you will be a loser.’
The Census Director Hekali Zhimomi IAS, expressed happiness to the Chief Minister for his patience during the course of recording his details for his data collection and answering the queries of the 2011 census to the enumerators. We should follow the example set by the Chief Minister, she opined. She further informed the public to assist and help the enumerators to bring correct census, stating that it is a constitutional duty to carry out the duties. She also urged upon the enumerators in all far flung areas, to carry out their duties at the schedule time.
Padumpukhri, DIMAPUR: Along with the rest of the state, government enumerators began the ‘Census 2011’ operations at Padumpukhri village, Dimapur on Tuesday, June 1. Padumpukhri village has 1512 households spread in five blocks.
The officials assisted by the village council and ‘gaonburrahs’ first visited parliamentary secretary for youth resource & sports, Naiba Konyak’s residence as a show of courtesy, kicking-off the survey in the village.
The parliamentary secretary along with his family, however, will be filling in their details in the census schedule only at their home-town where they have their permanent address. The census officials nonetheless collected the details of the house and its other residents.
They next visited former state minister Z Obed’s residence.
The enumerators and supervisors have an arduous task ahead requiring utmost sincerity and determination for a truthful census reading. “It takes atleast 20-30 minutes (if not more) in each house” said one enumerator to put into record all details as stipulated in the schedules.
Meanwhile the village council of Padumpukhri has appealed to all its residents to give full cooperation to the enumerators when they visit their homes and provide the correct information to them.
ZUNHEBOTO: The House listing and Housing Census of the Census 2011 and canvassing of National Population and Registration was launched on June 1, 2010 at the residence of the Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, T. Kiheto Zhimo.
The Deputy Commissioner while addressing the gathering briefed on the various aspects of the Census 2011 and asked them to ensure proper enumeration and data collection in their respective jurisdiction and also called upon the people to assist the Enumerators and Supervisors of their areas. Kiheto Zhimo also said that he has physically covered Aghunato, Akuluto, Suruhuto, Atoizu, Asto and Satakha to ensure correct enumeration. The enumeration started this morning with the household of T. Kiheto, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto in the present of the Town Charge Office and officials from the Directorate of Census Operation Nagaland, Kohima. All the GBs, VCC Chairmen, elders, community of town wards attended the programme.
MON: A team of Census Officials led by Sarah Ritse, ADC & Charge Officer accompanied by Alongse Sangtam, Additional Charge Officer cum Master Trainer, Bendangrenla, Enumerator and Wangto, Supervisor started House listing & Housing census for preparation of National Population Register in Mon beginning with the resident of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar IAS on June 1, 2010.
According to the Census Officers Canvassing for House listing and Housing Census Schedule and Household for National Population Register will be completed in between 1st June to 15th June 2010 while canvassing of Household Schedule for Population Enumeration will start from 9th February to 28th February 2011. The Revisional Round will start from 1st to 5th March 2011 and Reference Date for Census 2011 will be on 1st March 2011.
MOKOKCHUNG: The 1st phase of census of India 2011 commenced today at Mokokchung Town with the ‘House Listing & Housing census’ schedule along with ‘NPR’ household schedule exercise commencing early in the morning hour from Padmashree Chubalemla Ao, private residence and Lithrongla G. Chishi Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung Official residence. Expressing satisfaction over the enumeration arrangement for the census, they opined that the quality of data collected from census 2011 will be correct and accurate for future policy making & Planning and also for better governance of the county in general and the state in particular.
