Census 2027 sensitisation held in Shamator; Central Observer reviews Kohima training

Kohima/Shamator JUNE 24 (MExN): A consultative meeting and sensitisation programme on Census 2027 and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was conducted for village functionaries under Thsotoku Census Circle in Shamator as part of preparations for the upcoming Census exercise.

According to a DIPR report, the programme was led by EAC Shamator and Charge Officer, Census Circle, Mekato J  Aye and attended by village functionaries representing all villages under the Census Circle.

The meeting aimed to sensitise stakeholders on the importance of Census 2027, address queries related to the digital enumeration process, and discuss the roles and responsibilities of village authorities during Census operations.

Addressing the gathering, Aye described the Census as a vital exercise for planning, policy formulation and equitable development. He elaborated on the transition to digital Census operations and stressed the need for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely data collection.

Village functionaries were encouraged to assist supervisors and enumerators in the preparation of maps, identification of households and facilitation of field-level activities in accordance with prescribed guidelines. Participants were also briefed on various case studies and practical aspects of Census implementation.

An awareness session on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls was conducted during the programme. Participants were sensitised on the importance of maintaining accurate electoral records and encouraged to spread awareness in their respective villages regarding voter registration, correction of entries and electoral participation.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which participants raised queries and received clarifications on Census procedures and electoral roll revision activities.

Central Observer reviews Kohima training
Meanwhile, MK Tiwari, Joint Director in the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India and Census Central Observer for Nagaland for Census of India 2027 (HLO-Phase I), visited the ongoing training sessions for enumerators and supervisors in Kohima district on June 24.

During the visit, Tiwari interacted with Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer, Kohima, B Henok Buchem along with the District Census Officer and Charge Officers. He reviewed the conduct of the training programme and emphasised the importance of quality data collection and thorough preparedness for the forthcoming Census operations.
