Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Meeting of central media units and State stakeholders was held on September 2 at Conference Hall, Hotel Japfü, Kohima, organised by the department of Information & Public Relations.
A DIPR report stated that Director General (NE Zone), PIB Ministry of I&B, Guwahati, LR Vishwanath in his address, said “we are living in a world of team play and individual geniuses would not work in the long run nor achieve success.
Therefore, individual geniuses should seek convergence keeping all ego issues down the line and work as a team.”
Viswanath further highlighted that the present dispensation in the Union Ministry is to have an Integrated Communication Overreach Policy (ICOP), and for which the media units in particular have to start a revolving communication everyday with the stakeholders of the State- the Chief Minister's Office, Chief Secretary Office and DIPR. He also mentioned that, PIB Ministry is in the process of setting up media units in integrated style in every state.
Vishwanath suggested the inclusion of multimedia exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi along with local freedom fighters in 2019 Hornbill. He expressed hope that this exhibition will draw lot of interesting crowds to promote and compliment Nagaland in a Multi prom way and make Nagaland a wonderland.
Deputy Director Urban Development, Nagaland, Tarachu Fithu spoke on the initiatives for Plastic Free Nagaland. He pointed that State is in its initial stage when it comes practices of waste management. Henceforth, the Government of Nagaland has taken the initiative dated 17th June, 2019 it has notified to ban on single use plastic carry bags, plastic cutlery, Styrofoam, polythene, Nylon, PVC, Poly-propylene, and also total ban shall be effective after three months from the date of publication in the official gazette.
Tarachu also pointed out that for management of waste, an awareness campaign will be held in three phases. The first phase which has started from May to June, 2019 and second and third phase campaign will he held on September 11 and 12 and October 2 and 3 respectively.
Director Tourism, Akhale Khamo gave a brief presentation on Hornbill Festival and Tourism potential in Nagaland. She stated that, Nagaland though have attended 53 years of Statehood, it is still in its initial stage of Tourism development. She further informed that, inorder to promote Tourism; the tourism department is focusing on two sectors- culture tourism and rural tourism.
The programme was chaired by Director IPR, Limawati Ao. Welcome address was delivered by Dy. Director, News AIR Kohima, Shahu Patole. Other allied departments like Urban Development, Art &Culture, Tourism department attended the programme.
