Kiphire, July 18 (MExN): Dr. Sumita Ghosh, State Mentor for Extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (EGSA) and Deputy Commissioner for Maternal Health, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi visited various health units in Kiphire district to assess different programmes for health under EGSA. She was accompanied by State and district teams from Health & Family Welfare department.
The team visited District Hospital Kiphire (DHK), Community Health Centre Pungro (CHC), Primary Health Centre Likhimro, and Sub Centre at Singrep village, informed a press release from Atsali T, District Media Officer, CMO office Kiphire.
The State Mentor assessed core activities like Mission Indradhanush (MI)-EGSA, Antenatal Care Coverage, LaQshya, Health and Wellness centres, and District Hospital strengthening. Gap analysis was done and discussed with various stakeholders, including the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire Mohammad Ali Shihab (IAS), the release added. Dr. Ghosh also stressed on the importance of strengthening the District Hospital.
PHC Likhimro, which is identified to be upgraded into a Health and Wellness centre, was assessed and the State was asked to expedite the up-gradation process.
It was informed that Dr. Ghosh will discuss the findings and gaps in the district with the State government and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for necessary action.
Kiphire is the only ‘Aspirational’ district identified in Nagaland under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
