Dimapur, April 8 (MExN): Dr. Nagesh Prabhu, IFS, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, went on a field visit to various plantations and facilities in and around Dimapur on April 6 and 7.
The Member Secretary, along with Sarat Deori, RO, Guwahati, Central Silk Board and Chandan Basera, Director of Sericulture, along with Sericulture officials visited private plantations in Niuland, followed by a visit to Common Facility Center at Keyito Bade village where they met local women who were part of several Self help groups set up with the support of the Department of Sericulture and then headed to the Eri Seed Grainage and Spinning Unit at Dhansiripar. They interacted with local women and beneficiaries who make a living based on Sericulture activities. The Officials also visited the mulberry plantations at Manglumukh and Samaguri.
Dr. Nagesh Prabhu is in the district on an official visit to coincide with the recent inaugural function of the Muga P3 Basic Seed Station Kubolong and the launch of women empowerment and sustainable livelihood in Kohima District under NERTPS on April 5.
