Certificate course on Documentation and Archiving of NE Languages inaugurated

Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): A Short Term Certificate course on ‘Language Documentation and Archiving for North East Indian Languages’ was virtually inaugurated on March 26, Tetso College informed on Sunday.

The course is being offered by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi in collaboration with Computational Resources for South Asian Languages (CoRSAL), University of North Texas and Tetso College, Dimapur.

The inaugural session was chaired by an eminent linguist Prof Shobana Chelliah from the Department of Linguistics, University of North Texas.  Professor Dr Ramesh Gaur , director, IGNCA New Delhi shared his long term plans of such a course at IGNCA, after welcoming all the resource persons and participants, in his welcome address, a press release from the college stated.

Dr Hewasa L Khing, Principal of Tetso College explained how the partnership with CoRSAL and IGNCA would benefit the students and scholars in and around Nagaland.  Thereafter, the resource persons and participants had an interaction about what they expected to gain from the course and what the course offered. 

Coordinators at the various institutions participating in the project, including CIT Kokrajhar, Nagaland University and Tetso College, interacted with the participants and resource persons, the release stated.
