Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD), on May 5, requested the general public to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in order to keep everyone safe from the virus.
With the second wave of the virus hitting all the corners of the country, the physical and mental health of the people, medical requirements, economy of the country and families are in crisis, it said.
The humanitarian values of love, compassion, truth, justice, honesty, reconciliation and mutual understanding are more needed than ever at this critical juncture, the Forum added.
It called for individual and collective effort to strictly comply with the laid down safety protocols and refrain from everything that may prove detrimental to human health and life.
The CFD also called for stronger faith and trust in God during the crisis. “At this moment of crisis we should not be shaken of our faith and trust in God, catch hold of Him who can save us,” the CFD stated.
The Forum meanwhile, noted that despite the mass destruction and loss, the pandemic has brought the families together to pray, share and has enhanced the humanitarian values.
Despite the huge number of positive cases, the recovery rate has also been increasing at a rapid pace, it added.
It extended sympathy to all the families who have lost their loved ones and those who are suffering due to COVID-19. The CFD also prayed for all the front line workers and volunteers engaged in serving the society.
In its executive body meeting held on Wednesday, the CFD also appealed to all the churches to recognize the threat of COVID-19 and follow all norms and precautionary measures to avoid any unwanted threats in their gatherings. It also appealed for churches to promote awareness and take all precautionary measures to contain the virus.
The Forum extended support towards NBCC and NJCF in their stand towards the implementation of NLTP Act and affirmed to stand with them in all possible ways.
It also expresses the nobility of being a Christian state and calls for the need to corporate Christian values and practices so much so that physical, social, mental and spiritual aspects of the lives of the people are based on the faith one expects to be in with.
The CFD also invited concerned individuals and churches to participate in a fasting and prayer programme on May 8 from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon to seek “God’s Divine intervention during this crucial and precarious situation.”
