Chakhroma GBs' Union laments government's failure to shift DC office to Chümoukedima

Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Chakhroma GBs' Union today attacked the government for its failure to implement its own order of shifting the departments under Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur to the new headquarters complex at Chümoukedima.

In a press statement, the Union stated it is “confounded” by the way the government of the day is functioning, as “its implementation of the welfare and development programs has come to a standstill and the government seems concerned only with appeasement of few individuals and holding on to power by hook or by crook.”

Describing failure to move the DC’s office as one glaring example, the Union recounted that almost a year has passed since the government had issued an order for shifting of offices accommodated in rented buildings to the new complex; “however the government seems to have lost its will to implement it own order after it was silenced by a few individuals who has interest in the present ADC office complex.”

What is more baffling, the Union maintained, is that “despite the fact that the Government of Nagaland is broke and has no money for development programs and to pay the salaries of its employees, it can still spend crores of rupees annually in paying rents while the office buildings constructed by spending huge amounts of money, are kept unoccupied and allowed to slowly decay and lay in ruins.”

Moreover, the New DC's office complex at Chümoukedima has become a sorry sight as thousands of crores of public money meant for development are simply wasted, it added.

According to the Chakhroma GBs' Union, the new complex built by investing a huge amount is now deteriorating in fast-track mode due to non maintenance.

Seeing the pitiable sight, the statement added, “the Union has time and again reminded the government to immediately occupy the building so that the building is saved from total ruin, and also for the convenience of the people in accessing the office of the District Administrative head, but the government seems to pay no heed to the concerns raised by the Union for public welfare.”
