MLA Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu today took a dig at the present government, saying when the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister declared "Change is Coming" as its slogan, “we thought they are talking about bringing simultaneous positive changes in our land.”

He, however, said "changes" in Nagaland has come to our land but rather in a very unfortunate manner.

Speaking at the inaugural programme of Phek Town Inter-Colony Tournament here, he said “Developmental activities has come to a standstill, no students scholarship, no old age pension, no teachers salary, roads everywhere in Nagaland in very deplorable conditions, bridges connecting towns and villages going down with no effort of the government to repair them.”

He said the government of the day fearing to take questions and trying its best to limit the questions put forth by the opposition during Assembly session.

Azo said the Chief Minister has failed to empower his MLAs in charge of departments and “instead we have mere public having a higher status than our mandated leaders which is totally hilarious, self-deceiving and undermining the public mandate.”

He stated that PDA much talked of "doing away with VIP culture" has only increased with the numerous numbers of appointments as advisors and chairmen which subsequently burdened the state exchequer to the tune of crore.

He said the change has come to our land in a very regrettable and inappropriate way.

“As a leader we should behave and act more matured and become a sight for sore eyes. We wake up to cheap paper wars everyday- leaders and parties issuing provocative statements even targeting individually. Instead of wasting precious time criticizing one another, I request the government of the day to rise up above petty politics and address the more important issues confronting the present Naga generation such as The Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, debate on the Scrapping of Article 377 by the Supreme Court whereby gay sex has been legalized, rising price of essential commodities, the influx of IBIs to our land, the deteriorating road conditions and most importantly taking up of all round development in our state,” Azo said.

Touching on the present political scenario of the state, he said, “if it is the will of God the political dynamics of Nagaland will change sooner than later.”

He said whether in 2019 BJP comes back to power or not, "the tides will change in favour of the NPF party."

In this, he called upon the all-party men and women to remain steadfast and patient.
