MOKOKCHUNG, JAN 10 (MExN): Changtongya Baptist Church (CBC) celebrated its centennial anniversary recently at Changtongya village under the theme “Jesus Christ with the ages”. The three-day centenary celebrations also saw the screening of a 1906 to 2006 CBC history video during service hours.
Rev. Dr. I Nuklu Longkumer, Principal of DBC who has served for 18 years as pastor in the Church released the souvenir brought out on the occasion. Rev. O Alem also unveiled the 10 feet centenary memorial stone at the church gate.
Also, Orangkong Baptist Church Choir, Changtongya Town Baptist Church Choir, Niang Baptist Church Choir, Yongshai Baptist Church Choir, and Yaongyimsen Baptist Church Choir treated the gathering to gospel melodies.
The main speakers at the centenary program were Rev. O Alem, Executive Secretary of ABAM Impur, Rev. Dr. Anju Keikung, Director of NMM and Rev. L Taku Longkumer, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Farmington Illinois USA. Among the dignitaries who exhorted the gathering were Taka Masa, MLA, Dr. Atola, Principal of Dimapur Government College, Temsü Lkr, SDO (C) Changtongya town, I Panger Jamir, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Nagaland, Advocate I Mangko Jamir, I Nüken Lkr., Joint Director of Horticulture, Nagaland, T Imsü Jamir, GM of NIDC, Dimapur, NS Alemba, former MLA and Akümla Chuba, Under Secretary, Nagaland.
CBC is the 25th Baptist Church under Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) to complete 100 years of existence.
