Cheat arrested by Dimapur police

Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): The Dimapur police has apprehended a habitual cheater, one Md. Jahirul Kalam alias Rajiv, 33, of Assam for a number of frauds including filching ` 5 lakh off a person on the promise of huge sums of profit. The accused is from Nagaon, Assam.  
A note from the Dimapur police today said Md. Jahirul Kalam alias Rajiv, was reportedly an insurance agent working for Golden Trust Financial Service in Nagaon in Assam. He induced a person, unnamed in the police note, to invest
` 5 lakh on December 6, 2010. The accused promised huge sums of profit in return for the “investment,” the police said. Taken in by the tall tales the victim ‘invested.’ The accused ‘absconded’ after receiving the money.
In addition, in January, the police said, the accused cheated another victim of
` 70, 000 on the promise of “arranging” a good-condition car (an Alto). The accused went untraceable again. The police investigated the case and arrested the cheat from Ghorapatti, police said. Investigations are on.
