Kohima, July 20 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today sought cooperation among the administrative heads, heads of departments and elected members.
Speaking at the coordination meeting with Administrative Heads of Department (AHoDs) and Heads of Department (HoDs) at Civil Secretariat conference hall, Kohima, the CM added that elected members should give their tour programmes to the Chief Minister's Office and AHoDs and HoDs to their respective Ministers and Advisers so that if any work arises one can be contacted. “It's high time for the working relationship to develop so that we can serve our State,” the CM was quoted as saying in a DIPR report.
Rio further expressed the need to expedite the implementation of NST bus service from Dimapur to Chumukedima, introduction of pink bus for women in Dimapur and Kohima, biometric attendance installation in the departments. “We also want to bring out the best and the worst performing departments which can be announced on Independence Day or Republic Day,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the CM stressed on the urgent need to implement new sports policy, tourism policy and measures for differently-abled persons. Concern was also raised regarding allotment of public land to private individuals. “If Nagas as a whole gain all individuals will gain, but even if individuals gain and Nagas lose we will all ultimately lose. No more encroaching the nullahs, footpaths etc. We have to think big and let the multinational companies come,” Rio added.
Chief Secretary Temjen Toy said that the meeting was convened to discuss improvement in good governance. He reiterated and reminded the officials of the procedure of routing files through the Advisers. He further directed all the departments to give the report of their innovative programme achievements latest by July 24.
Ministers and Advisers present also shared their concerns and suggestions for improvement of the working system of the government and called on the senior bureaucrats and technocrats to unitedly work for the welfare of the people and progress of the State, the DIPR report said.
